Heart Attacks Spike at Christmas

I know exactly what you’re thinking:

Shoveling snow with a weak heart!

No, that’s not it. A big problem for sure, but not the underlying reason of what actually “triggers” the weakness in the first place.

Breaking news hit my desk this morning, and it is of such vital importance, we’re rushing it out to you as a health alert, as it could very well save your life or a loved one in your family.

The “Sunshine Deficit” and Cardiovascular Disease

If your levels of vitamin D are too low, you are at significantly increased risk for stroke, heart disease and death, even among people who’ve never had heart disease, says a new study released by the Heart Institute at Intermountain Medical Center in Utah.

For more than a year, the Intermountain Medical Center research team followed 27,686 patients who were 50 years of age or older with no prior history of cardiovascular disease. The participants had their blood Vitamin D levels tested during routine clinical care.

The patients were divided into three groups based on their Vitamin D levels:

  • normal (over 30 nanograms per milliliter)
  • low (15-30 ng/ml)
  • very low (less than 15 ng/ml)

Ginseng – The King of the Herbal Kingdom

Li Ching-Yuen, photographed in 1927 at the residence of General Yang Sen

One of the most famous tales in all of Chinese Medicine is that of a master herbalist, healer and mountain man, Li Ching Yun (Li Ching-Yuen) who lived an amazingly long life to 253 years of age.

What was his secret? Very simple, Li Ching Yun had discovered and mastered the rare art of “Adaptogenic Medicine”, using herbal compounds, healing foods and strenuous exercise each day.

The core of his success was the use of profound herbal compounds; in particular, wild crafted Ginseng, to trigger this action of “Adaptogenisis” in the body.

The Body as Doctor

What this means is that the body, when given the right elements from Nature, can literally change itself like a chameleon to adjust to the rigors of life and disease. This in turn means that the body overcomes the imbalances, the disease elements, and stays in control of itself, healthy and vigorous both physically and mentally as well as spiritually.

Vitamin D Linked to Successful Weight Loss with Dieting

Vitamin D levels in the body at the start of a low-calorie diet predict weight loss success, a new study presented at The Endocrine Society’s 91st Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. found.

In this study, the authors attempted to determine whether baseline vitamin D levels before calorie restriction affect subsequent weight loss.

They measured circulating blood levels of vitamin D in 38 overweight men and women before and after the subjects followed a diet plan for 11 weeks consisting of 750 calories a day fewer than their estimated total needs. Subjects also had their fat distribution measured with DXA (bone densitometry) scans.

On average, subjects had vitamin D levels that many experts would consider to be in the insufficient range, according to Sibley. However, the authors found that baseline, or pre-diet, vitamin D levels predicted weight loss in a linear relationship.

Low Vitamin D Linked to Vaginal Infections

Low vitamin D levels may increase the risk of bacterial vaginosis, a common vaginal infection linked to adverse pregnancy outcomes, suggests a new study.

In a study with 469 women participating in a pregnancy cohort study, vitamin D levels below 20 nmol/L were associated with a 34 percent increase in the prevalence of bacterial vaginosis, compared to women with vitamin D levels over 80 nmol/L.

According to researchers led by Lisa Bodnar,  from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, a potential protective effect of vitamin D may be due to the vitamin’s influence on the immune system.

The study adds to an ever growing body of science supporting the benefits of maintaining healthy vitamin D levels.

Silent Epidemic: Brain Shrinkage

A fascinating study has just been published in the September 2008 edition of the prestigious journal Neurology. This study convincingly showed how “Brain Shrinkage” or “Brain Atrophy” is now at epidemic proportions in the Western world.

Could this be why we have so much Alzheimer’s, Autism and Attention Deficit? There is an answer, a profound one that everyone with a brain needs to utilize.

Vitamin D could save your life!

Think you’ve heard all there is to know about miraculous Vitamin D-3? I did.

And then someone sent me a full, in-depth report that really opened my eyes and made me, a passionate advocate for Vitamin D-3 for years, literally double my daily intake! So should you, or so WILL YOU, when you read this extraordinary report.

Vitamin D Deficiency is Becoming Alarmingly Common

Ever since the misguided medical advice to avoid sunshine (which makes over 90% of our Vitamin D), health problems associated with low levels have skyrocketed.

Vitamin D is not only a vitamin, but also an important hormone, with deficiencies causing widespread problems.

In fact, Vitamin D deficiency in the United States alone:

  • Is estimated to causes severe immune dysfunction, causing 85,000 extra cancer deaths a year
  • Increases osteoporosis
  • Increases pain in chronic pain conditions
  • Not only increases osteoporosis, but also the risk of falling
  • Significantly increases the risk of Multiple Sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and diabetes

Vitamin D treatment can also improve lung function and help people with asthma, while also decreasing the risk of heart disease, hypertension and stroke.

Because Vitamin D is stored in the fatty tissue (fat soluble) instead of being washed out in the urine (water soluble), it is possible to overdose if you get too much. This scares people away from getting the optimal dose, even though 10 times our current RDA (also known as “Ridiculously Low Allowance”) of 400IU’s a day is safe.

For those with decreased bone density, the dosage recommended is from 2000-4000 units a day. Otherwise, 1000-2000 units a day is optimal. Most importantly, remember to go for walks and get your sunshine.

Sunshine is good for you! For optimal health, avoid sunburn – but not your sunshine. Get 15 minutes of sunshine on your near-naked body at mid-day, when the sun is at its highest.

Vitamin D Deficiency is very common. Amazing as it may seem, with so many nutritional products being consumed these days, Vitamin D deficiency is rampant. This nutrient deficiency is critical, causing tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths each year in the United States alone. Because of this, and the deadly recommendation to avoid being out in the sun without sunscreen, Vitamin D deficiency is very real and getting worse.

Vitamin D may lower Breast Cancer Risk

By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor WASHINGTON (Reuters)

Breast cancer patients with lower levels of vitamin D were far more likely to die and far more likely to have their cancer spread than women with normal levels, Canadian researchers reported on Thursday.

Women deficient in the “sunshine vitamin” when they were diagnosedWoman in sunshine with breast cancer were 94 percent more likely to have their cancer spread and were 73 percent more likely to die than women with adequate vitamin D levels.

More than three-quarters of women with breast cancer had a vitamin D deficiency, the researchers reported to a meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Vitamin D can protect from Type-1 Diabetes

I hope you are reading and reacting to the near-daily news about the miracle of Vitamin D on the body.

An incredible report hit my desk about the overwhelming body of science supporting vitamin D supplements for protection against the development of type-1 diabetes. Diabetes is worse than AIDS as a worldwide epidemic and it is getting worse by the second because of junk food, sugar-laden foods and drinks, with zero exercise.

But the miracle Vitamin, D-3 contains Mother Nature’s answer to this plague.
