Source: Honolulu Heart Program, the National Institute for Longevity Science in Japan and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dietary records of 7,000 middle-aged men (ages 45-68 years), reviewed over 30 years, showed a clear association between the risk of coronary heart disease and a dietary intake of Magnesium.

Magnesium Doesn’t Stop There!
Magnesium is important in nearly every function and tissue in the body. It supports a healthy immune system, lowers stress, reduces the risk of developing diabetes, ward off depression and migraines.

Magnesium is necessary to convert Calcium so it can be properly absorbed by the body. When Magnesium is deficient, the body “calcifies” from the unused Calcium. This is how hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis) occurs, as the calcification builds up and blocks the artery – all because of a lack of one little mineral.

How Much Magnesium Do We Need?
A lot. Science tell us that we need 600-1200 mg’s throughout the day.

Ideally you want to get all of your Magnesium from foods such as leafy greens like spinach, swiss chard, nuts and seeds, especially pumpkin and sesame seeds, brazil nuts, almonds, beans and lentils soy beans, brown rice, quinoa, and even dark chocolate.

Unfortunately for most of us, even incorporating all of these foods into our diet, is insufficient to meet 600-1200mg’s per day.

You can go to Wal-Mart, Costco, Walgreens or your local grocery store and buy a Magnesium supplement. You might as well get out a match and burn your money, because what you’ll get is magnesium oxide, aka “crushed rocks”.
