Hidden Dangers in Our Drinking Water

But what about the rest of us, who live in the city or suburbs, far from industrial contamination? Is our drinking water clean and free of contaminants?

More than 2 million synthetic substances are known, over 25,000 are added each year, and over 30,000 are produced on a commercial scale! Only a very tiny fraction are ever tested for toxicity – and a lot of them come to us on the winds and in our water without us knowing.

Even bottled water with fancy labels and advertising, hides behind the fact that it contains highly dangerous toxic chemicals.

We are literally drinking ourselves to death!

Did you know manufacturers and drug makers in the USA legally release hundreds of millions of pounds of pharmaceuticals into rivers and streams, that are then used for our drinking water?

Consumers are big contributors to the contamination too, as millions of people flush unused drugs down the toilet.

And hospitals and long-term care facilities throw away an estimated 250 million pounds of pharmaceuticals and contaminated packaging.

Nearly 40 years ago, Congress enacted the Safe Drinking Water Act and yet today we have more contaminants in our water supply than ever!

  • In the summers, half the rivers and streams in America’s “Corn Belt” are laced with pesticides.
  • Microbes in tap water may be responsible for 1 in 3 cases of gastrointestinal illness.
  • Chlorine (also known as bleach) is the most-widely used disinfectant by water treatment facilities. As it mixes with other substances in municipal water, it produces carcinogens and has been identified as a major contributor to breast cancer.
  • Chlorine is a gas at room temperature, and when heated in the shower, the chlorine turns to chloroform, a chemical once used as an anesthesia until it was replaced by less toxic substitute.

New Flu Virus Will Hit Harder than Swine Flu

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) ordered up hundreds of millions of vials of H1N1 vaccine, urging everyone to get a H1N1 flu shot, especially children and the elderly.

Yet people still came down with the flu!

That’s because flu shots are NEVER accurate enough to work on a continually mutating virus like the flu!

The Japanese government Friday confirmed the country’s first outbreak of a high-risk bird flu in three years, though it stressed that there was no evidence the disease had spread beyond chickens. The report came two weeks after Hong Kong reported the first human case there since 2003.

Arthritis Clinic's Secret Recipe

Did you see the report recently from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) about Arthritis? Amazingly 2 in every 9 Americans has crippling Arthritis.

Among those who are obese, 33% of women and 25% of men have been diagnosed, roughly double the proportion among those whose weight is normal.

The statisticians tell us that there are over 335 different forms or variants of Arthritis.  Arthritis of the knee and other joints disables about 42% of those with arthritis, or 21.1 million people. (That’s more than the total population of my home country, Australia!) The total cost of medical and impaired activity to the U.S. economy is about $128 Billion annually.

That is not a misprint – $128 BILLION, annually!

The CDC says an additional 17 million Americans are projected to develop arthritis in the next 20 years, (that’s 67 million people) making it the most common cause of disability in America.

PMS; Menopause; Hot Flashes – GONE!

All my life I’ve been fascinated, enthralled by the power of women, of motherhood and the secret of their ability to never seem to age.

My own daughter at three years of age had a timeless wisdom about her that made me think that she indeed “had been here before.”

My grandmother who lived to be 98, bringing no less than 13 children into the world, told me that a good mother “stands in the place of God for her children, and with all His love.”

Asian women never seem to age at all, they just “change” with the seasons and the years.

The old professor at the Institute in Shanghai confided that he too was fascinated by this power that women posses.

He dropped 24 lbs and looks fabulous. He says he weighs the same now, as he did in high school. How many of us can say that?!

I hear he did it for two big reasons: his daughter Chelsea’s wedding and his continually clogged-up arteries.

Chelsea Clinton is vegan and has been pleading with her father to change his “Bubba Diet” for years to no avail. But with her wedding coming up, she laid down the law and instructed her father to slim down for the big event.

Clinton himself knew he had to do something, as his arteries kept clogging up. Last winter he needed to have a stent replaced after having quadruple bypass surgery in 2004. His life was being threatened by the spare ribs and highly saturated southern food he’d eaten all his life.

Vitamin D-3 "Frightens" Cancer Cells to Death

BREAKING NEWS: Increased dietary intakes of Vitamin D3 could prevent the cancer-causing effects of obesity by 42 percent, according to a just-released research study.

That’s right, 42%!

Even 10% is considered a giant step in fighting cancer. No chemotherapy drug or radiation therapy can deliver a 42% success rate. And vitamin D-3 is just pennies a day, not the horrendous $40,000 a month costs of chemo and radiation.

Vitamin D continues to amaze researchers (but not us, as we have been promoting it from the rooftops for over 12 years.)

This latest research is just stunning in what was discovered – that vitamin D triggered the body of obese female lab mice to stop producing a key cancer fuel called “osteopontin” which the cancer needs to keep burning, much like wood to fire. And at the same time, it super-activated the body’s production of a compound called “E-Cadherin” which literally terrifies cancer and stops it from spreading or metastasizing.

This is an extraordinary “dual action” where vitamin D “puts out” the fuel needed for the cancer to stay alive and then literally “freezes” it from spreading, thus causing the cancer to self-destruct (cellular apoptosis in medical speak.)

The HIGH Cost of CHEAP Food

Do you remember the egg recall last month where two “factory farms” in Iowa were forced to recall over one-half a billion eggs contaminated with salmonella? (Yes, that’s Billion!)

Well, just a few days ago I received an email from Gianni Stefanini, Owner of Apollo Olive Oil in northern California (they have the best organic olive oil – visit their website) and I just had to share it with you.

His email hits on so much of what I believe in as the root cause of all diseases impacting Americans today and why our message of “Body as Doctor” and that the food we eat is so vitally important – not only in the recovery of any illness or disease, but in preventing illness and dis-ease in the first place!

When Something is Not Good – It is Always Too Expensive

The recent outbreak of salmonella poisoning that caused 500 million eggs to be recalled has people wondering about the integrity of our food supply.

In fact, this catastrophe is merely the latest in a string of huge recalls. Just this June, 28 million boxes of cereal were recalled by Kellogg’s; in early 2008, 143 million pounds of beef were recalled by a California company; and in 2006, more than ten million portions of salad were withdrawn from the market.

There are two excellent resources that reveal the truth about why these outbreaks occur.

The movie, Food Inc., and the book, Animal Factory, document the harmful effect of modern practices in two key areas: price and safety.

While many are vaguely aware of the dangers of factory farming few know the details that will cost our society so dearly.

“Homocysteine” – Is this what really causes Alzheimer’s?

A recent survey found that a staggering 92% of people said they had “senior moments” every day.  Do you constantly “misplace” your car keys? Or get up and walk into another room, only to forget what you came there for?

I always tell people that “B” Vitamins are called “B for Brain”. Every action of the brain needs lots and lots of B vitamins, every single day. Yet, these are practically non-existent in the Standard American Diet (SAD). No wonder its called SAD; unhappiness, anger tantrums and depression are the first signs of vitamin B deficiency in the brain.

But lack of B vitamins can lead to something far worse. Alzheimer’s, the unknown disease just a few years ago now seems to strike every single family with devastating effect.

My own family has been “struck” by Alzheimer’s. My dear old Auntie Gladys, was reduced to a life of a zombie, living in a constant fog, not recognizing any of us towards her untimely death a few years ago.

But good news is here! Mother Nature, as always, has an answer!

“Homocysteine” – Is this what causes Alzheimer’s?

The next time you get a cholesterol check up, ask for – NO, DEMAND – a “Homocysteine” check as well. Most doctors won’t tell you to get one because there is no kickback of big buck$ from drug companies, as there is no drug for treating homocysteine.

Homocysteine occurs naturally in the bloodstream and comes from an amino acid called “methionine”, which is present in all animal and vegetable protein. As part of the digestive process, methionine is broken down into homocysteine. As long as certain helper nutrients are present (like vitamin B6) homocysteine subsequently converts back into one of two harmless amino acids.

Guess what?

The typical American diet is chronically low in vitamin B6 and nowhere near the amount needed to protect the body. Vitamin B "puts off" Alzheimer's

Next to “Cancer”, the most frightening word in everyday language is “Alzheimer’s”. It strikes without warning and finding a “cure” is next to impossible, researchers say.

But just yesterday, groundbreaking news hit my desk from England about an in-depth study that shows dramatic hope to “put off” Alzheimer’s and maybe totally beat it.

A new trial suggests high doses of B vitamins may HALVE THE RATE of brain shrinkage in older people experiencing some of the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease. Brain shrinkage is one of the symptoms of mild cognitive impairment, which often leads to dementia. Here’s some quick facts on brain shrinkage:

  • The average brain shrinks at a rate of 0.5% a year after the age of 60.
  • The brains of those with mild cognitive impairment shrink twice as fast. (1.0%)
  • Alzheimer’s patients have brain shrinkage of 2.5% a year.

If we can find a way to slow the rate of brain shrinkage, this could be the first step towards finding a way to delay the onset of Alzheimer’s, researchers believe.

The study, published in the journal Public Library of Science One from Oxford University included members from several departments within the University, including members from the Oxford Project to Investigate Memory and Ageing (OPTIMA), looked at 168 elderly people experiencing levels of mental decline known as mild cognitive impairment. This condition, marked by mild memory lapses and language problems, is beyond what can be explained by normal aging and can be a precursor to Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

In the trial study, one-half of the volunteers were given a daily tablet containing the B vitamins Folate, B6 and B12 at levels well above the recommended daily amount. The other half were given a placebo. After two years, the rate at which their brains had shrunk was measured.

The clinical trial found that on average, in those taking vitamin supplements, brain shrinkage slowed by 30%. In some cases it slowed by more than 50%, making their brain atrophy about the same as people without cognitive impairment.

Did you catch that? Up to 50% improvement! This is significant by any measurement.
